Since our last up date we have continued to explore this city. Last Sunday after we did the update we were walking home from a meal and came across loud drumming, whistle blowing and singing. We could hear it from well away from where the action was and so we followed the music. We came across some closed off streets and crowds of people watching some dancing and singing. The dancers were throwing their feet up around their ears all geared up in white outfits with small mirrors and beads sewn over their costumes, a cross between Morris dancers and those people with buttons sewn all over their clothes. It was quite spectacular and most of the people had aerosol shaving cream cannisters that they were spraying over everyone, even the Police. Everyone was really enjoying the show, it was the San Telmo part of the Carnival. We are going back on Sunday to see if we can find it again.

Monday, to the Zoo, saw animals we haven't seen before and the animals are very close to the people. They had a petting zoo of sheep and goats and donkeys. There was an aquarium of very large colourful fish. The hugest koi carp ever seen and rodent type things that sat like a rabbit, had a big body and looked like a kangaroo - these were just roaming around. The animals weren't very well labeled so we don't know what some things were. We found a stuffed tuatara, New Zealand's contribution. Yeah.

Tuesday, we spent all day looking for the American Express office and never found it. I left Paul in a cafe down from the Hostel and he rolled in slightly pissed. One way of making a bad day better.

Wednesday, We found the American Express Office, it is amazing what you can find when you ask for directions. It was like going into Fort Knox, with armed guards everywhere. Went by bus to the Evita Museum. This is a lady who was truly loved by the poor and hated by some of the population. It was most interesting.
I went to my first art class. Only I could organise an art class, one on one with a University art Professor. She gave a really good class, not impressed with my brushes and she will really get me going well. I have to practice alot between now and Saturday, my next class.

Thursday We went by bus to La Boca where I had to buy a new brush this morning. We went for a bit of a walk and came across the Boca football stadium in the middle of a neighbourhood. It holds 60,000 people. They are only having 1st round games at present so we wont go to a game yet. We went through the artist quarter called Caminito. This is an area by the docks that has been done up and painted very bright colours, with artists and craft people everywhere.
Got to go and practice my painting. The temperature here is in the high 30's, catch you later.
