Never let yesterday use up too much of today.---Will Rogers
Monday. Our first order of business is to go to Devil’s Tower, Wyoming, but first we enjoy Bob’s famous grits, eggs, and salsa.
The tower is a solitary stump shaped granite formation that looms 865 feet above the tree-lined river valley, like a skyscraper in the country. It’s the core of an almost volcano.
The mountains markings are the basis for Native American legends. After viewing this monument, we both felt it has been misnamed, “God’s Tower” comes closer to what we observe.
We opted for a three mile hike with close-up views of the forest and wildlife, not to mention spectacular views of the Tower. Bob went a little “beserkie” taking picture after picture of wildflowers. He ranks the beauty and diversity of this hike, among his favorites, quite a compliment. He really is enjoying his new camera. The hike is the Red Bed Trail. It includes huge pines, red bed-rock, surrounded by the greenest prairie and a lovely meandering river, complete with wildflowers everywhere. We passed prairie dog field, filled with prairie dogs, weird little critters. We also spotted jack rabbits along the way, eating their way through the grasses

Grits?
Wow, cool hike! Can you elaborate, and this will sound silly, on what grits are? I always thought they were potatoes, hashbrown type things, but a fella from Tennessee that I recently met has said that Grits are Grits, not potatoes, but won`t elaborate. How would you describe grits? ivadoll (ivajan@yahoo.com)
