I love Baños so much, I decided to go again, this time with Johana and Ian. Ian is a new Canadian teacher from Torontoish and Johana is also my fabulous co-worker from Quito. We left friday night after work, partying on the bus.

The next day, we rented bikes for like 5$ for the ENTIRE day! Good deal if you ask me!! Johanna had been to Baños quite a bit so she knew what she was doing! We did the "Ruta de las Cascadas" (Route of the Falls). Basically biking from waterfall to waterfall ... it was so amazing!!! Beautiful views and you can really take your time to enjoy them, unlike on crazy buses. We had so much fun all day, enjoying nature and what not! I love getting out of the city!

That night we went to the termal baths. Baños has several hot springs cuz of the active Tungurahua volcano (Tungurahua is Quechua for "throat of fire"). Quechua is a native language here. We went to the main place which is "Piscina de la Virgen". It has 3 different tubs of different temperatures and some normal pools with extremely cold water! We went at night so it was pretty crowded but it was still good! We got to relax.

The next day we went horseback riding!! This time my horse had a mind of its own! Seriously he would cross the road when cars were coming towards us. I was like what the hell! But I still love him anyway!! Our guide was a pretty cool Ecuadorian kid who was totally laughing at us the entire time, but its all good! Im kept telling myself he was laughing at the horse... yeah... haha... So we went in a different direction than the last time I went horseback riding in Baños, so I was really happy about that! We got to see the Tungurahua active Volcano, beautiful mountains, more waterfalls, more of the town ... it was just all good, I had an amazing time!

Baños can do NO wrong!

A Virgin Pool- What a Great Idea!
Hi sweet Jejeanne - another fun and active weekend with more beautiful scenery. I particulary like the Pool for Virgins - but in a town called Bathrooms - I guess anything's possible :>) The waterfalls looked amazing - I could HEAR them in your pictures! At first I thought Pikabo was local dialect for peeing in the tall grass, then I caught on... Keep having fun, Love you Most Sainted Aunt

My interpretation of "Not Looking Good"
Dear Jehanne, Your most reverant and holy Aunt Chrissie is visiting for the weekend and we are having so much fun following your blog. I can't believe how brave you are and how much fun you are having. I am really happy for you. OK, enough of the nice stuff....I couldn't help but notice one of your photos (they are terrific by the way) that you captioned with "Not looking so good". I just want to give you a tip on "what not looking too good looks like at my house day. Desmond and Andrew ran away for the day and Chrissie and I have from 10:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m. to get ready to go out for supper with your mother. It is currently 3:14 and I have had a shower and washed my hair and had one beer. Chrissie gave up on the beer and is into the wine and we're trying to figure out how the hell we'll get our nails done and dry for six and get dressed without wrecking our nails. Now I want you to know that I am on my March break and what did do this week - I did my freakin nails. (Maybe, still a work on progress). Now I don't want to make you homesick, so I better get back to my busy exciting life in freakin, freezing (-35 degrees Celcius) conditions. Hope it's a bit warmer there and that your life continues to be as exciting as mine. Lovingly, frozen to death, worn out from my vacation, and enjoying life over 50! Tante Brenda
10th March 2007

Hi again Jejeane: As you can see, I am sharing your site with other family members, it is so interesting and fun for us back home. Don't believe a word Aunt Brenda says, I am home for the weekend for your mother's birthay, and have been to mass twice today and shoveled the driveway here in Jardineville, no time for fun for the saint! I can't wait to hear what you do on the Easter weekend- I assume you'll have a whole week off to do some more exploring. All is well here, we are enjoying 3 feet of snow and looking forward to the time change. Yes, imagine! The time changes this weekend (spring ahead) which means I can now go to bed at 8 instead of 9! We are all going out to supper tonight to celebrate your Mom's birthday, I haven't seen her or Sebby Debby since Xmas. We will be thinking of you (and talking about your adventures of course) tonight so I wanted to say hello and send kisses. Love you- take care Sister Christina XOXO
