Bunbury - Dolphin
All suited and booted to swim with the Dolphins Hi Guys, so I know your all wondering what the hell have I been up to for the past few months - considering I haven't found the time to update my blog - so here goes...
After Fraser Island we headed further south to Noosa, went along to Australia Zoo A.K.A Steve Irwin’s Zoo saw lots of crocs / snakes, walked on through a lovely national park in Noosa manage to spot one or two wild koala's so sweet!! We then travelled on down to Brisbane (not my cuppa tea) stopped there for a couple of nights which was enough time for me - most people tend to work in Brisbane - but hey I'm not so I left sharpedo to Surfers Paradise. Unfortunately there weren't any surfers there at all - v. disappointing but the night activities in Surfer was fun! After drinking wayyy to much alcohol I needed a alcohol detox location, so spent one night in Tweeds Head - lovely and relaxing, got to see the boarder of Queensland and New South Wales - We then moved on to Byron Bay - lots of fun and games there mainly spent our evenings in a so called 'night
Margaret River - Winery
Swings and Roundabouts winery club' named Cheeky Monkey - the name says it all really!!
From Byron we had a 12 hour over night bus journey to Sydney - stayed in Sydney for 3 weeks loved it there, Leigh and James came over to visit (lovely to see you guys!!) spent xmas in Bondi unfortunately James flew home just before NYE but me, Leigh and the girls had an amazing night by the Sydney Oprah House on New Years Eve watching the 75th anniversary of the Sydney Bridge fireworks - absolutely stunning!!!
Whilst in Sydney went along to Palm Beach A.K.A Summer Bay - the beach is not as nice as it looks on the TV but got to see the surf shop - well the outside of it anyway.
After 3 weeks of Crazy / Fun/ Drunkard / Extreme days & nights in Sydney and surrounding areas we caught a flight onto Melbourne - where we hired a car headed to Phillip Island for the Penguin Parade - the penguins there are the smallest in the world standing only 7 inches in height fully grown - so sweet!! Also stopped off at Bass winery to test out the local grapes 😉
When we got back to Melbourne I purchased a didgeridoo - I thought about trying to earn some extra cash by playing it on my travels but thought better of it and arranged for it to be sent straight home (just as well some might say!)
Whilst in Melbourne I also booked myself on a tour to see The Great Ocean Road - absolutely stunning, got to visit the 12 apposiles - breath taking also stopped off at the famous Bells Beach watched a load of surfers do there thang...hmmmm... such good entertainment!
The following day I went along to the first Australian Open Tennis - I thought it was suppose to be a family day out - but riots erupted!! That evening we were booked onto the Neighbours night tour, got to see Paul Robinson, Toad Fish and some woman who is apparently the 'mum' not sure who she is but hey supposedly famous in Neighbours! The night itself was very amusing I'm not a Neighbours fan but their was a lot of people screaming and whistling as if it was a bunch of kids back in the days at a Take That concert!
From Melbourne I caught
a flight over to Perth to hook up with Becki and Bekka- when I arrived at Perth airport my backpack didn't it was still in Melbourne but luckily I only had to wait 24 hours and it was back in my hands (phew!) spent a few days staying with Beck's Auntie and Uncle - amazing hosts! Popped along to a few beaches around Perth - Scarborough being one of them - the beaches are absolutely stunning on the west coast and not so populated as we found it on the east coast.
Over in Perth we hired a car to take us down the west coast for a mini road trip... stopped off in Bunbury where we swam with dolphins - I got to see the dolphins in the act of trying to mate! We moved onto Dunsborough stopped off at Mallot Beach for a couple of hours in the morning then headed onto Ngigli Caves then headed onto a ice cream factory to chill down. Following day headed onto Smiths Beach for some fun in the waves - the heat was becoming too extreme so we headed onto Margaret River wineries for some tasting sessions and to top it
Albany - Tree Top Pose
How big is that tree!! off we headed onto a cheese factory and a CHOCOLATE factory - YUM YUM!! Whilst in Margaret River I bought some Ugg Boots ready for next year’s winter in the UK check out a stunning winery call Lawrence Winery that covered over 300 acres of land - amazing! We then headed onto Albany but unfortunately there wasn't very much to do there that evening as by 6pm all the shops / information centres close - so we woke up nice and early the following morning to check out what to do and booked ourselves onto a Eco Cruise which travels around the inlets of Albany stopping off at sand Dune which we climbed up and over when we arrived at the other side we found a deserted beach which was beautiful. From the cruise we headed along to do a Tree Top Walk - where literally we walk to the top of a bridge to be the same height as a top of a tree! The views were lovely, but we also managed to take lots of pics of me hugging big fat trees - by the end of the trip I was filthy!
We decided to do a full
days drive from Albany back to Perth to make it back in time for Australia day and en route we stopped off to see Whaling Cove (quick hour or two for sunbaking) then Cable Beach, The Gap and Natural Bridge all beautiful.. Will try and attach pics!
Australia Day!! O what a day... me and Bekka drove to a place called Wooroloo which is a couple of hours east of Perth to go see a Rodeo at El Cabello resort... had a fantastic day, the horses and Bulls went crazy and the cowboys are soooo brave! From the Rodeo we headed into South Perth to catch the fireworks and all the crazy Australian people continuously shouting 'Ogi Ogi Ogi, Oz Oz OZ' now what’s that all about!
Now back in Perth I was very eager to get a scuba dive in action to say I’ve experienced a dive on the west coast of Australia, so we caught a ferry from Fremantle to Rottnest Island booked a night to stay in the YHA youth hostel and made the most of the island. My dive were awesome - did a reef dive which was very cool had a great buddy (john)
Albany - Eco Cruise
View from the Dune to dive with and I was even brave enough to do a unassisted dive (no instructor or dive master swimming along side me) I'd say that was the best feeling to be free swimming around working hand in hand with just your buddy. The second dive I went through caves - once again another first experience - never done any cave diving so was a little anxious but by the end of the dive I felt amazing!
Rottnest Island is stunning only bikes are allowed on the island so you have to cycle everywhere up and down the hills - by the end of the day my butt was killing me! Snorkelling on the island was fantastic too as there are so many bays / beaches/ coves to choose from.
Now back from my adventures of the west of Oz I'm set to fly off to New Zealand in a couple of days - hopefully I'll be a little more pro active in keeping you guys up to date on what’s happening this side of the world....
O boy - I've just checked how long this Blog is... I'm sorry if you got bored half way through with
Australia Zoo
Nice little Koala how stunning / amazing and fantastic everything is but Oz is a lovely country... Next stop is New Zealand so you'll probably hear how EXTREME the activities are.... watch this space
