We arrived after a very short flight from Ko Samui in Phuket airport. We had decided we were going to treat ourselves to a posh hotel for Christmas. We arranged at the airport to stay at the "Metropole Hotel" in Phuket town and got a taxi directly there. The hotel was a million miles away from anywhere we have stayed in for the past 5 months and a nice treat. After some dinner we had an early night as we were exhausted from our long day and the previous night.

After breakfast the next day we headed to the pool in our Santa hats where we met Wesley, another Essex guy. The weather was terrific and it was a very different kind of Christmas day to what we are normally used to. Christmas in Thailand is pretty average to say the least although the hotel had made the effort to erect a gigantic tree in the lobby and lots of tacky decorations around the front entrance. They had unfortunately failed to add turkey and ham to the menu a massive shortcoming on their part and one we were less than pleased about. We still went for a Christams dinner of sorts eating as well as we have on the entire trip but obviously nowhere close to home.

After calling home we headed to the hotel bar and had a few beers before heading to a nightclub we had spotted across the road. It was absolutely jammed with Thais singing along to a Thai rock band (About as good as you would expect). After that we had a girl singing Chritmas songs and then a full blown disco. Good fun as they were all in Santa hats and in Christmas party humour, even if they didn't seem too clued in about what exactly it was all about. After a good night we headed back to the hotel.

The next day was St Stephen's Day so we treated ourselves to breakfast in bed. It was a really hot day so we spent the bulk of it by the pool. After another nice dinner that night we attempted to watch the football. A United fan (A Dub of course) vetoed our plan and insisted on watching the United game (Probably for the best as we didn't do too well against Blackburn). We had booked tickets for a ferry to Ko Phi Phi for the next day and so we enjoyed our last night (Football aside) in luxury. Back to reality tomorrow.

Next Stop Koh Phi Phi...
