Hi all,

Well since my last entry we’ve come up in the world, no longer live in a tent in a trailer park and have in fact signed binding contract and accepted the keys to our brand spanking new, absolutely fabulous apartment in Brisbane . Unlike in a tent we can stand up straight, unlike at a hostel we have our own bathrooms….note the ‘s’….and most importantly we have this thing called a television and we even have a DVD player courtesy of Aldi (where the cashiers now know our names). Weather’s picked up…still hoping my tan will improve before I head home.

Am I mad considering giving all this up and heading back to dreary Ireland , boring Brittas and the monotony of The Lakes I hear Mo ask well yup probably but that’s the plan! Have a date with Quantas airlines later this week and I’m hoping they’ll send me back to reality within a month.

Brisbane ’s lovely, a really nice city and we’re in a really nice area. We live in China Town which is ‘oh so cosmo’ and only a quick stroll from the city centre. The area seems quite lively, lots of pubs and clubs (that we can’t afford to check out) and a huge video store (sleep has been replaced with ‘DVD time’).

I’ll probably hang around here a while longer…until the novelty of home comforts wears off, and then I’m going to take a trip to Moreton Island before I head up the coast to the Whitsundays to sail around the Great Barrier Reef, then its back down to Sydney for my flights, if I’m not too pressed for time I might try and take in Melbourne on the way.
So that’s my news, how about you guys…anything strange or startling?

good luck on next stage of travels.
Emer, great to hear your latest news. You are so courageous to be heading off to the Great Barrier Reef without the rest of the gang. But, I suppose there comes a time when its great just to do your own thing. Having settled into the impressive pad, I imagine the others are planning to hang around for an extensive period. Would imagine, though, they must be running out of cash by now, so job hunting will probably become a priority. As for you, you have done and seen so much and am not surprised that you are planning on heading home. You will quickly get into the swing of things there and pursuing a new career will offer an exciting challenge. . Wish you a safe trip to the Reef and dying to hear from you again. x mary.
