Lesson of the day... flying sucks and should be avoided whenever possible.
I had now reached my 30th hour of flying in only 1 week, and it sure felt like it. For some reason engineers continue to construct planes for individuals without legs. I have deciphered this from several tell tale clues... such as a metal bar in the seat in front of you which have been crafted specifically to stab you in the knee caps.. and seats which makes placing your legs at parallel angles impossible. Mix this with the fact that 90% of our flight was over thunderstorms and some beautiful turbulence and you can see that I was not happy once we arrived.
But my mood quickly changed once I was dropped off at the Central Backpackers Hostel in downtown Auckland. As far as hostels go this one was the bomb (ie good). With a bar located on the second floor and tons of student backpackers hanging around I could tell I would have a couple good stories once I left in a couple days. My first order of business was to go to
an orientation across the street which would cover everything from setting up a local bank account to getting the perfect job. This orientation also allowed me to meet a few other travellers who turned out to be my roommates at the hostel, which was great. After setting up my bank account and hopelessly looking for a pair of comfortable flip flops, my new friends and I made a stop over at the local pub and then to the local beer store (dont blame me, someone has to drink this stuff). All this boozing made us thirsty so we went back to the hostel and started the night off early with some shots and a few stories. It turns out that this would be the cheapest part of the night as beer at the dance club around the corner was 8 dollars a BOTTLE... not pint.. BOTTLE. This would be one of my last memories of the night except for my Finnish roommate doing the robot on stage.

Lesson of the day... when only 2 guys collectively spend $300 dollars at 1 bar in less then 6 hours, you know you had a good time... well
we think we had a good time.
My first hangover in NZ and hopefully not my last. As a few of my roommates and I try to figure out how we spent so much money in 1 night, we realized that there were 2 more people now sleeping in our room... it seems our group of friends had grown. Luckily 1 girl was from BC which was awesome as many people i had met did not have the greatest grasp of the English language. After breakfast we decided to go for a long walk over to one of the bridges in Auckland, which housed one of the cheapest bungee jumps in NZ. The walk which took us there was awesome, yet sad as we came to the realization that non of us could ever afford the thousands of sweet boats which lines the entire coast. Laughing as we finally arrived at the bridge we all looked on as the shortest bungee jumping spot in all of NZ was itself HUGE...sitting more then 100 feet above the water.. and there was no way i was up for that today. So guess what we did instead? that’s right... we got dressed
up in our best surf clothes and partied another night away (real original eh?). Sadly this place was even more expensive and in the mix of things we even ordered a drink costing 20 NZ dollars... which contained gin, vodka, rum and tequila.

Ow... my poor poor liver
Though we had all gone to bed around 5:30 our Finnish roommate had decided it would be a great idea to call his girlfriend at 7 am... and then his parents at 8... We all agreed this was a great plan and told him this by showing him the door...but since he lost his key he kept the door open and talked right outside it.... sweet. This was my last day at the hostel so i had to sign out by 10 and make my way over to my friend Kath's place who my parents were staying with. This day was to be spent exploring a local museum and having some great food.. and then an early night as i was beyond tired.
Well once again i am tired from another relaxing day (jealous?) so i am gunna go out and find some sun
Catch
Wanna see a 20$ drink?
If you are wondering why i am so sweaty...it cause this bar was about 102 in the basement ya on the flip side
