So we've made it to the 6 months away mark. By far the longest either of us have ever been away before, and you'll be pleased to hear that we're not regretting our decision to come travelling one jot. With another 6 months still to come we have an awful lot of the world still to look at, and the pace will probably pick up a bit over the coming months. Africa and Asia are the 2007 destinations, with the next flight on our agenda being from Nairobi to Sydney at the end of February. We've taken 5000 photos so far and Ed has ony just worked out how to use the camera so there should be a lot more by the time we return. Get your tickets to the slideshow weekend early.
One recurring theme is that we never seem to have enough time, for example our visits to internet cafes are always rushed and we often feel like our list of mundane chores we need to do (shopping, writing e-mails etc) never gets done. But probably this is just evidence that some of these things aren't even all that important. Basically this is our way of building up to saying that we wanted to give a nice succinct list of stats at the halfway point, like all the best blogs do (!), but haven't got time as we're off for a picnic in a bit. Oh well, we can't have it all our own way.
The day itself was quite quiet and was spent in Franschhoek and with an excellent meal at The French Connection in the evening. With that we climbed into our bed knowing that we had just 2 more nights of luxury remaining.

You are in heaven in Franschoek
We had the oppourtunity to visit the little town in Dec 2005 and have lunch at a Vineyard. What a beautiful place and so rich in history! Glad to see you got to stop there on your trip, and thanks for the note. Mark Osborne Fraser, Michigan USA
