I just left Bucknell yesterday, and after the shortest of all of my trips back and forth, between PA and AZ, I arrived home sweet home last night. All I wanted to do when I got home was have one solid day of doing absolutely nothing, aka never leaving my bed, maybe for a snack or to go to the gym for a bit, but all I wanted to do was stay in bed all day and stare at the wall, think, or read a book. But since I never pass up an opportunity for an adventure/hiking, I decided to go with my dad and Gus to Sedona. We hiked the Oak Creek Canyon, which follows the Oak Creek for about 3 miles until it reaches a potion where you either have to hike in the water or turn around. When we first came upon water, we threw a rock out in the river for Gus to get and he ran out, full speed, and slid all over because we didn't realize it but the river was frozen in some parts. It was so fun though because Gus looked like he was walking on water. It was actually really cold and my hands were numb by the end of the hike, but it was a really nice day and it felt good to have the cold, fresh air on my face.
After the hike we went to Seven Canyons and my dad signed me up to take a fitness test. It was not as bad as I thought it was going to be... I ran on the treadmill for 10 minutes and he increased the pace and the incline about every minute. While I was running I was hooked up to a thing that measured my heart rate and a face mask that measured my breathing. After he had taken those readings, the trainer gave me a print out that told me what my heart rate should be for different training days and gave me a work out schedule. Then he made me do different exercises to determine if I am balanced and have mobile and functioning joints, muscles, ect. It was helpful and interesting but I don't think I am going to do any of the work out plan that he made for me, I just like doing my own thing.
After the fitness test, we went to the member Christmas mixer. Open bar for the first hour meant good wine!!! and there was also tons of good food, so I pretty much just drank my wine and ate a ton of food and mingled with people a lot older than me and it actually was kinda fun. But I had too many cookies and hot coco and then I couldn't go to sleep for the rest of the night, but it was a good first day back in good ol' AZ.
