Valley of Fire TRAVEL TIPS
May 30. Today is a day in Las Vegas. I haven’t been here since 1971, at that time we saw Elvis perform, not his impersonator. It is a town of glitz, sparkle and more glitz.
We were in touch Joan and Jim, friends from the “Burg”, and we scheduled lunch at New York, New York.
Early in the day we walked the strip and stopped at the Bellagio to see the water show. There is a lot of walking. Bob complained to many jewelry stores and not outdoor shops. I think he wanted Gucci Hiking Boots. The opulence is incredible.
We enjoyed meeting our friends; they both look great. They left Pittsburgh in February, so it was fun comparing travel stories.
After lunch we continued walking the strip. We stopped at the Venetian, etc, this entire experience is sensory overload!
Tuesday, May 31, 2005. This is our last day in “sin city”, however we have a “red-eye” flight to Pittsburgh at midnight. Thus we have lots of hours to “kill”.
The day started as we returned to the strip and took a monorail trip, a neat
system. The first stop we the Wynn Hotel a new place. The competition is serious. Who can out glitz whom?
We decided on a lunch/dinner at MGM followed by a movie. The new Star Wars movie was a good choice.
Finally back to the hotel for our luggage and on to the airport and home!!!

What a place!
Las Vegas is the opposite of what we "outdoor people" are used to----but there are so many who love it. Who is crazy? We like to think it is the "others". After all, I think, the natural world has it all. But not everyone does!
