Because of the Covid problems in the Indian community our hotel served pre-packaged breakfast for us to take. We had scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuit, fried potatoes, juice and coffee, bagel, cream cheese or butter, and breakfast bar. I was impressed at how they handled the breakfast. Many hotels would have just cancelled doing any kind of breakfast.

East Glacier is on the east side of Glacier N.P. Close to the St Mary Visitor Center. This year several national parks are requiring vehicle passes (in addition to your visitors pass) to get into the parks. They are doing this to control the amount or traffic and people I. The cost is only $2.00 however if you didn’t get a reservation 60 days before your day to enter the park you couldn’t get a vehicle pass. They did release 400 passes two days before you’re day to enter the park. So for two days I got up, logged on to my account, held my phone in hand, and waited until the release time of 8 am. The first day I was unable to get a pass but the second day I got one! Yes!!!

very narrow, very scenic drive across Glacier. We had planned to go across GTTS road on Tuesday as we left to head on west. We were going to ride the shuttle busses to various point in the park that fill up and have no parking available. One place was Logan Pass. It was about an hour ride on the shuttle. We got off, walked some of the paths, took pictures, visited the gift shop, and managed to get back on the same shuttle back to St. Mary. Once there we hopped into our car and decided to drive GTTS road in our vehicle.

As you might imagine, Glacier Park gets a lot of snow. Logan Pass road Is often closed from late October early November until June. There are markers on the roof of the Visitors center to indicate it’s location so the snow plows know where to find it in the snow. It’s hard to believe but that area has had 80 feet of snow. I can’t even imagine that much snow.

GTTS road is beautiful and could be treacherous. It is somewhat narrow (though we didn’t think it was any worse than Tyler County Or WV

Fishing hole
roads), and if you look down at certain points you might just hold your breath (no guardrails). But WOW what beauty! So glad we took the trip. Once you get to the west side it’s about and hour and a half back to the east side (where we were staying). It was really a very beautiful drive also.

We had a cottage (Airbnb) for the night so we could bake muffins, do laundry, and organize the car. Tomorrow we head out toward Seattle and the west coast.
