a lazy Sunday

Barcaldine closes for the weekend at 2pm on Saturdays. The tourist shops, bakery, souvenirs, art/craft galleries and general run of the mill shops all remain closed on Sundays. The pubs are open (there used to be 11 in the town) and the Laundromat is also open so it was a chance to get bed linen washed and dried. That is after I had to find some detergent – stupidly, I had left a new bottle of liquid at home so I had to settle for a splash of wilderness wash. Washing machine started and we went for a walk through the back streets to kill time when we discovered a small general store open – most likely only known to the locals – so I was able to purchase a bottle of laundry liquid ready for next time.



When we went to refuel the car John spotted a food truck offering Dutch Proffertjes – perfect for morning tea.
