Golden Wedding Anniversary.
50 Years Ago. Wow. We look so young. A great day then and a great 50 years to follow. Yippee!!! Level 4 Done. Level 3 Done. Level 2 Done. Working through Level 1. Oh my. Normal is becoming a bit more of the norm.
Here is a brief rundown of my exciting time in these levels.
After 7 weeks I went to the Super Market for the first time. So exciting!!! Buying groceries for the first time in so long. We used on line services for 7 weeks, plus magic top ups by Tony and Sarah next door. Level 4 restricted us to staying at home apart from our daily walks around the surrounding streets.
Level 3 bought to us new found freedom to walk further afield and to actually use the car to drive to close by walks and beaches.
Then into level 2 we could venture forth into the great wide open. Still with certain restrictions. We could even drive to Hastings and join Amy and Jeremy's bubble. But we decided to wait a few weeks before heading that way. Most shops were now open with distancing rules in place. Queuing is now part of the norm. The grandkids headed off to school and life is slowly returning to a bit of normality. But
Walking Walking Walking.
I have walked lot of new areas over the last weeks and covered a lot of Kms. it certainly is going to take time to get any sort of true normal back into our lives.
So with Level 1 now with us we can look back at our extensive travel over the last few weeks which has all been local, and a lot of it on foot. The car didn't leave the garage for a long time. Walking the local streets and the hills and pathways in our area has actually given us a much greater appreciation of our local community. So many different sights, and always the sea not far away to create a magic vista. Now we are enjoying longer walks with some new sights. For the last 12 weeks we have been blessed with unbelievable weather so the lock down and the following levels were made so much easier as we could spend so much time outside. I shudder at the thought of what it would have been like if we were sitting inside for the whole time looking out at wind and rain.
So now to the future. How long before we can journey overseas? We feel that this could be a long time in coming. So lets make the most
Di Walked With Me.
Not every walk but quite a few. of what we have.
Not a lot of planning at this stage. Perhaps we can do some of the New Zealand trips we have talked about for so long. So many places that I would like to visit, some for the first time but many for a trip down memory lane. Hopefully a bit of fishing on new rivers and old.
After many many bad hair days I finally was able to get a hair cut. Great to see the top of my ears again and not have to reshape my mop every couple of hours.
One journey that Di and I have been on has probably been one of the biggest, longest and most important journeys of our lives. Guess what! A journey of 50 years. Our Golden Wedding anniversary. 50 years of marriage. Wow.! Where has the time gone. So on this journey we have been blessed with 50 magic years. Wonderful kids and grandkids, all who have given us so much pleasure, so many memories. Fantastic travel memories created by ourselves, our extended family and our friends. My, how time flies when your having fun. And with good fortune there will be more to
Looking Back to Paremata.
Always a vista of the sea around the next corner. come.
We also got a present from the government as 5 days before our celebration, they moved from level 2, which restricted the number of people who could gather to 10, to level 1, meaning gatherings up to 100 were permitted. This meant we could celebrate and enjoy the company of family and friends on our anniversary. A great night and so good to be able to catch up with every one.
I've traveled to Lake Taupo a couple of times with Corrado as the Lake is so low he has wanted to check the boat and the house as no one had been there since lock down. We were busy just doing some maintenance things and enjoying the picture perfect weather. Love Taupo.
We have traveled to Hastings to celebrate Holly's 13th birthday with a delayed party and to enjoy a bit of grandkid time. So nice to be able to catch up with the kids and enjoy the Hastings weather.
Hopefully we will be able to get back into a bit of travel in the future but until then we will enjoy just doing what we are doing. Having fun. Pip/Rod

Happy anniversary!!!
We are also out of the lock down. We only need to practice social distancing and use masks when that is not possible. We also had to cancel our international travels, and will be driving to California in August and Connecticut and Pennsylvania in October to see our families.
