It happens to every traveler, You wake up in another dorm or hotel, you wipe the sleep off your eyes and you take one foot out of bed, but you just don’t have the juice to get your through another day of travel.

Sure these are the moments that you dream of when you’re sitting in your office chair, staring at an office keyboard, but dreaming of a Tequila sunrise. But at this moment right now, Netflix in your hotel seems like the best idea and you just can’t give an inch….not without motivation.

2017 is when I made my Travelers music playlist. A playlist that I’ve added to, subtracted from, but still It’s been the reason I’ve summoned up the courage to do some really stupid things. It's my secret ingredient to living life to the fullest, So if find yourself at a sloth like state, turn to your personal cheerleaders and make your ‘office self’ proud.

There’s no algorithm (or actual rhythm) to creating the perfect playlist, a lot of the songs you’ll put on your list will be on the road, you’ll listen to songs that just suit your current situation, songs that create a feeling of adventure, and songs that you have no idea what they’re saying, but it sounds cool. Here’s a few starters to help you out

Rusted Root- Send me on my way. This one’s a no brainer. A perfect wandering song where you’ll either feel like Matilda or a backpacker with bad body-odor, either way, a must have for every Travel playlist.

Creedance clearwater- Fortunate son. This one’s situational, if you find yourself in a country designed for tourism of a two-wheel kind (Like Vietnam) you’ll find yourself on a bike tours that take 6 hours a day for go weeks. At the start of a new day: Ice your bum, have a listen and find your ‘Motor’vation.

Kaleo- Way down we go. As I said, A few of these songs are built to give courage and inspire, whether it’s for cool things or stupid things is totally up to you. I went the latter direction, finding myself in a Laotian Cave surrounded by Huntsman spiders and Pit Vipers. But as the song goes, way down we went, and we found hidden lagoon only a few travelers have had the pleasure of seeing.

Love Generation- Bob Sinclair
Another classic for every playlist. Beware: this is a happy song and has the power to invoke happiness out of the grinchiest of humans. This is definitely one of those songs you’d listen to frolicking through daisies or hugging every stray dog in Thailand, Caution is needed.

Hope you dance. Ronan Keating- The message is clear in this song. If you have loved ones looking over you, the best you can do is give them a show.
Also the first few lines of this song say it all,
I hope you never… :
1. Lose your sense of wonder
2.Always keep that hunger
3. Never take a breath for granted.
All words to live by, but as a wondering foodie with asthma I feel targeted.

Now the point stands, this isn’t the bible of Travel playlists, make it your own, include a song that was playing the first time you bungee jumped, find the song that was playing in that Tuktuk as it took you the wrong way on the wrong side of the road. Include the songs that made you feel something, there’s a good chance you’ll get that same feeling again. Then make yourself a questionable coffee, put on your worn-out boots and go make ‘office you’ proud again.
