Although we had been to Budapest before we ended up going back to the same places we visited before mainly because we were with different people who hadn't been before. We stayed at the Buda Castle Fashion Hotel ,a nice little friendly place in the old part of Buda. As it was late on our first night we walked out of the hotel and found a lovely little bar with a very friendly lady owner who also gave us meat and cheese to have with our wine. Can't remember the name but it is just down the road from Jamie Oliver's restaurant. The following day we visited St Matthias church which has some beautiful stencilled patterns on the ceilings and walls. The experience was somewhat spoiled by loads of Japanese taking selfies everywhere. After the obligatory mid morning libation we walked along the walk of the Fisherman's Bastion and luckily the weather was terrific so the views were lovely. We also walked to Buda Castle but it did not look interesting enough to go in so we spent the time having a long very pleasant lunch in the Terrace restaurant nearby. In the evening we had dinner at Gundel's which is on the Pest side. It is a very old establishment, old fashioned service, lovely paintings on the walls, a band playing and lovely food but of course pricey but a must if you ever come here. We did not have long the following day so after a walk was had a one course lunch at Ramazuri. It is opposite Jamie Oliver's and has good food and wine. It was then time to get a taxi down to the Dock where we boarded Emerald Dawn our home for the following week..
