4-Day Trial Walk: Day 1:

I left the house a bit later than I’d wanted to… about 9:30am. After parking my car in the Hertz garage at Greenville Spartanburg Airport (GSP), I rode back home with my wife, get my stuff together and started walking around 11am. After walking through our lovely neighborhood, I continue down Neely Farm Road, past W. Georgia Road, until I decided to take a break at the SpinX gas station on E. Standing Springs Road around 12:30pm, where I took my shoes off while I enjoyed a Cheerwine Icee or Slurpee. Can you say brain freeze? LOL Along the way I met a little friend on the side of the road, see the photo. Fortunately although the snake had its head reared up and mouth open, it was quite dead. My next stop was a the Golden Lanes bowling alley where I usually bowl. I decided to eat lunch here since it was already almost 2pm. Their cheeseburgers are delicious, and pretty cheap.

Back on the road, literally, I made it all the way to the McDonalds on Pelham road before my next break. It was quite hot at around 95 degrees, so I figured I’d better stop more often than normal. Here and I and nice cold Caramel Frappe and took my shoes off. Again, a good bit of brain freeze. That stuff was coooold! Along the way on Pelham Road, I took a photo of a very cool house and some horses next to another nice house, just to show I wasn’t just walking through a city. I also took a photo of a pretty neat stream along the way, to add a bit of nature to the day. I stopped one more time at a Dollar General a little more than a mile from the airport, because my flavored water was getting warm and scarce. I ended up buying one of those Red Bull energy drinks. It didn’t taste all that good, but it did give my some pep in my steps.

I finally reached the Hertz lot near the airport around 5:30pm. After relaxing and eating some dinner, I quickly went up to my car in the garage at the airport to get clean socks and my electronics so I could relax and start working on this blog for today. Tonight I plan on watching a couple of my favorite shows on Hulu, washing up a bit in the restroom downstairs, then trying to get comfortable enough in my car to get a good night’s sleep. Tomorrow I strap my backpack and head down the road another 18 miles to my friend’s house near Tygerville for my 2nd night’s stay there. See you tomorrow.

P.S. Having trouble transferring photos right now, but hope to have them later or tomorrow.
