Hi everyone, missed yesterday’s blog due to poor WiFi. We left Agra after a quick last look at the Taj Mahal from the river side. It was just as stunning but a lot less crowded. Our driver took us on a 6 hour drive to Ranthambore. My, my, what a journey. Indian drivers love to overtake all the time and regardless of on coming traffic ,also we had to endure horrendous unmade roads which just shook us about continuously. We arrived at our new venue and settled into our luxury tent. Very nice and unusual. Managed to have our first morning of relaxation. Went on a short walk with a naturalist guide through the grounds which was informative. We even tasted freshly picked peas still in their pods and guava from the tree. So lovely.

At midday we were taken by jeep to go on our 6 hour safari ride mainly to see Tigers but were not guaranteed that we would. Memories of yesterdays drive came flooding back when the rickety old ,poorly suspended jeep started on its way. At times I thought we were flying as we shot up into the air on every revolution of the wheels. We had to hang on for dear life....but it was actually great fun. When else are you able to have a picnic lunch watching part of a tiger sleeping only 100 yards away ? ( well it was half hidden behind bushes) However we were also very lucky to see another tiger walking in the undergrowth. Many tourists apparently don’t see any. There were other sightings of deer, monkeys,Sambar, peacocks ,owls, mongoose, crocodiles and various birds. Considering how close we were to these animals I’m rather surprised our guide was not armed lol.We were in an open side and top vehicle, how brave were we ? ? It will be another early start tom as we have one final 3 hour safari ride at 6 .15 am. Are we mad? Then we set off around 12 pm on a 4 hour hell ride to Jaipur. Wish us luck. Just hope we manage to squeeze through the traffic gaps. Breathing in till next time ! Jane
