Last year, it was my time. This year it’s Cory’s turn. Whatcha mean? Cataract surgery, that’s what the good word is for the day. Hah! Whatever floats your boat. Cory was told by our local optometrist that he had developed cataracts so he decided he would visit Dr. Hanzlik. He is the Opthamolgist, at Celebration Hospital, who did my cataract surgery last year. He’s very good. Thus, we went for a visit with him last week....Cory and I just switched seats in his examining room. He in the exam chair, me in the comfy chair. Cory is going to get more sophisticated lenses than me cause he doesn’t want to wear any glasses at any time. ??You’re so vain?? Me, I use readers for close up use cause my lens are made for intermediate and long distance. His first surgery will be on February 13th (Wednesday not a Friday).....the second surgery, two weeks later. I hope it helps him so he doesn’t squint so much. He looks like Chong Ho Ling when he does that. I have to go back to Dr. Hanzlik in March to have my lenses lazered open because of the scar tissue that forms over them....common occurrence.
Just like our “His & Her’s” colonoscopies we had done in the summer. Now we are doing “His & Her’s” cataracts. Sweet!
Our adventures have kept us fairly close to home. We’ll be venturing out further soon so keep your hiking shoes on. Monday has the big Flea Market in Webster. Lulu has already called shotgun. Our foursome got our exercise by walking up through Old Town to Burger King one day. I was soooo thirsty. Fortunately, they have the refill soda machine available. I must have slugged down 3 diet Dr.Pepper’s before we left to return home. Sam was gracious enough to carry our refills on his scooter for all of us. He’s just like the Pepsi trucks that do their deliveries.....just on a smaller scale. By the way, he didn’t spill a drop! Good job, Sam...the soda pop man. Sandy and I had to pose with the Captain...Captain Morgan that is. Arrrr-Avast! (pirate talk).
We took a nice, long golf cart ride around the park the other day. Nice to see friends out and about. Stopped to see Jerry and Carole. She showed us the great set up they have for their two beautiful cats. They
have an outside cage that the cats enjoyed as we watched them. They can go from it through a little cat door right into their 5th wheel. What a grand life they enjoy. Meow!
Sam worked us over until we agreed we all had to go to Harbor Freight. He should start a fan club for this place. He would be the president. He loves this shop and loves their free coupons even more. It’s a big hardware MEN’s store with all sorts of tools, etc....at cheap prices. Sandy & I knew we didn’t care to spend hours looking at drills and pliers so we walked across the parking lot to a Bulk Nation food store. They have so much food in bulk form. They have expanded since our visit last year. Now they even have vitamins, soap and dog food. We hovered over all the candy offered in bulk. Yum! If you are looking for a piñata...they have lots!
Decisions, Decisions.....where to eat now. After a long discussion, we agreed upon the Olive Garden. You can never go wrong at Olive Garden. It was scrumptious as always. Just the salad and breadsticks can fill you up and
add the entree to it and WOW! You end up like a blimp! One that can’t even float. But it was all so tasty. We’ll be back, amici!
I don’t even know how to tell you this next happening. We are so devastated and shocked. I know all the rest of you will be alarmed, also. You need to sit down. It’s not pretty. For some unknown reason, Lulu has taken up smoking! Yes, we feel your torment and disgust now knowing what she’s been up to. Why at her age would you ever think she would decide she wanted to do this? She won’t give us a straight answer. She’s too busy puffing away to even talk. As past smokers, we know if she continues this addictive vice, it will be hard for her to quit. She needs to stop now. I’m buying her some nicorette tomorrow. I know you are asking how does she light her cigarette. She’s one clever gal. As soon as she sees a campfire, she goes right over to it and lights the cigs from there. She keeps the coffin-nail in her mouth the whole time, flicking it with her lip movement. She
just drops them all over the place when she done. Now we have to pick up cigarette butts all the time. I told her she can’t go with us if she’s going to continue this harmful short coming cause most places do not allow it. She’s mad but it is all her choice! She says she can’t get lung cancer......no lungs! We are not going to stay outside with her while she drags on her ciggy. Pray for Lulu that she may stop her latest bad habit.
Yesterday was a travel day. Our foursome (but not smoking Lulu) went to the Old Time Pottery Store. Oh, my....they have so much “stuff” inside it. We were amazed at all the left over Christmas stuff they still had on their shelves....75% off. Can’t imagine the humongous amount they had to start with in the beginning. We have to remember this place next year after Christmas. Cory and Sam struggled through the aisles with us.....it wasn’t Harbor Freight. Sniff, Sniff.
Decision time again. Our plan was to go to Steak and Shake and get half-price milkshakes but we are fickle and changed our minds. Ended up at one of our favorites
restaurants, Cheddars. Love that place! You can’t go wrong here. If you like onion rings.....theirs are the best. A huge amount and so yummy. We didn’t get any of them this time. Fill up on them and no room for your meal. You definitely need to try them, though. You won’t regret it!
Weather is beginning to take a change towards the cooler. Instead of in the 80’s, we are going to be in the 70’s this next week. I know our northern friends and family are spitting at us right now. Wish we could mail some of this hot air up to you but did you see postal rates are going up again? Rats!
We hope your new year has started out well and on a good foot. May it continue that way throughout this year and in all the others to come. We are so fortunate to have all of you to call our friends. Please don’t judge us on Lulu’s latest poor judgement. We know she will realize the repercussions and will give up this recent imperfection she has chosen. We pray.????????

I’m soo excited...NOT ... so a busy month for us, Thursday starts w/measurement day. Talk to you again soon. Are you going to the Mecum Auto Sales this year to buy your $50,000, 1970 CAR? Ha, Ha..
