Hello!!!!!

We arrived Saturday afternoon after an easy journey to head to Sukumvit where we had prebooked a couple of nights in a nice hotel (Well, nice in comparison to what we would later encounter!). Also interesting was the amount of pick up joints in the surrounding area. There seemed to be a particularly popular one right next door infact, which had a steady flow of Ferang (Thai pet name for foreigners) coming in and out with a little something on their arm.

The following day Martin decided to get his hair cut, which also involved a full body massage
and I had a foot massage which was amazing. I left there feeling like a new woman, as I also had the full body treatment. All that for a meer 10 pound- wouldnt get that in Toni and Guy! The hotel food was yummy and Pad Thai has now become our staple diet here- pretty much the same as home then.

Bangkok is extremely humid- not much sun, but its Monsoon season so is to be expected. We ventured to the Koh Sahn Road on Sunday which was an experience. We are staying here tonight (Monday). I would liken this to the main strip in Malia for those who know what I'm talking about- very hectic and lots of bars, people, street vendors, noise, stray animals and lots of dred-locked backpackers (fake dreds I might add- quite a good business here- and no I havent had any done). Also, another thing we have noticed is the constant hassle from taxi drivers, as they all seem to work in conjunction with the local retailers so try throw in a tour of the local shops to get even more cash out of us. Cant blame them though as tourism is the main industry in the city. We look like fresh meat here as everyone else is so tanned, so will have to do something about that!

We have decided to head north tomorrow to Chang Mai- not mad on this area of Bangkok. So as a complete change of scenery we have decided to get a 10 hour bus ride to Chang Mai and take part in a three day trek through the jungle, which involves two nights accomodation with local tribes who will be looking after us. We have just bought our long sleeves hippy tops to see off at least some of the mosquito bits we will get. We havent been bitten as yet, but some of the scars on people's bodies here are a sure sign that we are likely to get bitten in the near future.

Martin has been on cockroach patrol today in our hostel room as we have spotted quite a few unwanted guests on the way up to our room.

No photos to post as yet, but I'm sure there will be plenty over the coming week. You may have to wait for those as I doubt there will be internet services in the jungle. Anyway, hope all is good with everyone who reads this. Bye for now x
