These last couple of weeks I have been so busy actually travelling that there hasn’t been time to write a blog . I had visited Perth on my last trip to Australia and it was good to be back. With a 5 minute walk to the beautiful southern foreshore of the Swan River and a 30 minute walk to the ferry across to Elizabeth Quay, a bus stop and train nearby I was happy to use the excellent public transport system. Every I time I asked the bus driver about a ticket he gave me a concession ticket even though I don’t have a WA card and so for $1.40 I could have a bus and train ride to Mandurah 40 minutes away. Bargain ! Travelling for me is not just new places but seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Visited old friends there in Mandurah and enjoyed river / Harbour views as we had lunch and wandered around in the sunshine . Quiet evening to catch up on family news with Gary and Julie .... and her sticky date pud is well worth a mention - delicious! And thanks to Kerry for a delicious lunch by the river and
then coffee and cake . Last year in Cambodia and Vietnam we met some lovely Aussies and it was great to see Paul again and be introduced to Hillary’s Boat Harbour and the beaches of North Perth .
A must see in Perth is Kings Park and of course it was wildflowers again...so Adrian and I trekked all over the park where amongst the woodland the delicious scent freesias wafted up ....seeing them was like looking at a bluebell wood in England but this time it was wall to wall freesias. The plant named Kangaroo Paws is beautiful and velvety and with such a deep crimson colour .... lots of photos to try and capture the scene.
A drive down the Swan valley one day with Adrian introduced me to the many vineyards there and the historic town of Guildford with it’s town trail , often these small towns have excellent local museums and visitor centres.
I like Perth, it’s not too big and there’s lots of green spaces and parks along the river . My few days were over and it’s thanks to Adrian and Judi for their hospitality.
I haven’t written too much here
as it’s really a chance for you the reader to walk the sights with me.
