We started out today headed for Medway in search of a couple lighthouses there. Once we arrived we could not find the lighthouse. All along the road were private residences. We turned back and followed signs to another lighthouse at Port Medway. We walked around and took a few pictures. There were several storyboards that provided information about the history of the are. One of them explained that the lighthouse on Medway Head had been purchased and was now a personal residence. The actual light had been placed on a pole up the hill.
As we were leaving, a local man approached us and started telling us about the area. He started talking about the Lighthouse that used to be on Medway Head. Apparently a gentleman from the states purchased the house and had, he thought, become ill and hadn't been back for a while. He asked us if we had been to the meeting house that was just down the road a bit. We had driven by it on our way to find the Medway Head Lighthouse. He told us that there was a local reading club that put together a readers' festival every year. They bring in authors

Sunday morning walk. Thought I would slide these into the photo montage since they were such a cool sight. that provide a private reading to patrons who have purchased tickets to the event. I did a little research on the event and it's actually called the Port Medway Readers' Festival. The first guest is Jane Alexander. She is an accomplished stage, television and screen actress who was in, among other things, the movies All the President’s Men and Kramer vs Kramer. Unfortunately, the guy told us that all performances were sold out. The other authors were all Canadian.
We took a drive back down to go inside the Meeting Hall. It was a very small, but pretty cool to see. We signed the log book and noticed there was another couple from Vero Beach. :-)
We decided to head on down to Ft. Point as it was only a few miles down the road in Liverpool (Nova Scotia, not England LOL). As we were passing through town, we noticed a sign that said "Home of Hank Snow". Apparently, the country singer Hank Snow was born in Brooklyn, NS, which is just "down the tracks" from Liverpool. A little snippet from the website.
• As a boy, Hank faced many difficulties and shortcomings. He had to face the trauma of his parents' divorce at just eight years old and he
was forced to stay with his grandparents. He then had to deal with an abusive grandmother who forbid him to see his mother. He regularly sneaked out at night
and walked the railroad tracks to Liverpool where his mother was living. Not willing to return to his grandmother, who would often beat him for visiting his
mom, he would sometimes seek shelter in Liverpool's railway station, now home of the Hank Snow Country Music Centre.
When we arrived at the lighthouse, we walked around a bit and read the literature. I decided to climb to the top of the lighthouse. Granted, it was only about 15-20 steps up (but they were very steep!) LOL Once at the top, I looked around (not much difference of a view than from the ground). Got a little claustrophobic so I headed back down.
From there we headed back home via Walmart. :-) More adventures to follow. :-)

Lighthouses
Inside the light house looks pretty cool, never seen that before. What’s up with the boat, chair and something on that bench in the picture, I think lighthouses pic 04. I'm curious. Oh that is funny, Taz Mania Devil, apparently they liked Looney Tunes! Tidy Fishing boat would make a great jigsaw puzzle. WOW, the Meeting House looks so cool, can you imagine wear the dresses in those days and trying to get into the pew. I think they were facing each other to see if someone fell asleep. Gene didn't get stung by picking up the jellyfish? It looks weird, LOL. U R Having Too Much Fun :-)
