We took a cable ferry to the other side of the LaHave River today. We were headed to the beach to dig for clams. Gene and I had never done that before, so our friends' were somewhat our teachers. I think it had been a while since Pete had done it, but, as you can see, we did alright for ourselves. :-) The panoramic photo was of the area where we clammed.

All in all it was a very nice day. The weather was cool and we had a nice drive along the coast. We made several stops along the way to see what the area looked like.

Enjoy!

This is a small "cable" ferry that runs across the LaHave River. I think it holds about 12 cars and also transports bikes and people not in vehicles.

A cable ferry is one that is pulled by a cable running under the water. It was weird because there was no sound like would be heard on a regular engine ferry.

We stopped at this wharf along the way.

As you can see, the building that was there is not on stable ground. :-)

The beaches we've visited so far all have quite a few rocks on their shores. This one happened to have an area of more rocks than most.

As we drove back out to the main road, we encountered this little deer along the way.

Again, we detoured to a small little cove where these three buildings were. Thought it looked quaint.

These were just some of the boulders along that little harbor.

Just some of our catch. The big clam we actually found in the rocks on another beach.

Not really sure. There was another couple out there when we got there and they said they were doing pretty good. We were there about 2 hours.

Interesting about the Ferry, wonder how many times they have to fix the cable.. I like the Clamming 04 picture, tho looks abandon with an a abandon tire in the picture; hope no one is trying to live in it. Wow! the rocks and boulders look big, it would be an interesting story how they got there if only the water could give it's secret :-) Question what are those 3 long looking finger things in the Clam pictures?
