We have now completed week three. During this week we experienced two two-day sessions, first on prayer (Cecilia Von Bertrand) and then on ‘Paul as theologian’ (John Markey OP) Both were useful and practical but, for me, the sessions on Paul were outstanding and brought Paul to life. Also this week some of our sabbaticants began Spiritual Direction, for others this happens in the coming week. Facilitated Faith Sharing is a regular feature of our program and during last week we met the facilitators and signed up for groups. Faith sharing will begin in earnest during the coming week. Socially this week was also rich as I met a friend from my first Sabbatical in New Mexico - 25 years ago. This was Helen Collier, CCVI. She now lives in Missouri, but happened to be in town for a meeting. We look forward to further get-togethers as, fortunately she will be returning to San Antonio before May. In the meantime, her community in town have ‘adopted ‘ me!During last week I continued exploring our neighbourhood (pic) and this morning attended the weekly parish Eucharist at Blessed Sacrament Church (pic). For many the BIG event of the weekend is still ahead. The Super Bowl - an event of similar magnitude to Australia’s Grand Final. I’ve learnt that this is essential viewing for fans of American Football and that this year the Patriots (Boston/New England) meet the Eagles (Philadelphia). It seems that the Patriots are accustomed to the taste of success. However the Eagles have not tasted victory over 100 years! So far our group has jelled well. It is to be hoped that, after tonight, nothing will change! Celebrations are planned.

Hi Helga You must tell me how you decided on your spiritual director? Good thing the group has "jelled" that will make faith sharing sessions easier. Best go with The Eagles - the underdogs will play with passion. Get the groups opinion re whether players should "take the knee during the anthem". I would be interested in responses. We are off to NZ South Island tomorrow for a month. Not vastly different from your current situation. Lots of food and drink and as usual will give Glen lots of direction about how to live.
