Hawkes Bay Farewell

I was on blogging duty this morning whilst the C.O. went to view the local beauty spot Ta Mata Peak. She thought she was in for a gentle ramble but it turned out to be hard work and in a temperature of 30 degrees C she found raised a healthy glow. She was most put out as she struggled up the slopes to be overtaken by mad Kiwis running past her. All this whilst I was toiling away with my work on a shaded verandah.

We had lunch at a cafe named Birdwoods in a beautiful tranquil garden setting a little way out of Havelock North. The grounds had many statues and art works in it and whilst I was tempted the C. O. decided that we did not have pod room for it. We adjourned to an old fashioned sweet shop and purchased some old favourites for our journey to Wellington the next day.

The evening was completed with a sumptuous barbeque at the home of Helen and Mark Tasker. At the end of which we thanked Helen and Mark for their welcome and said farewell to Helen and Mark, their children, Sophie and Harry and Dave and Rita Wood.

Before turning in for the night, the C.O. announced that the pods were packed and we were ready to go.
