All of us
4/11/06
Aunty Tina and Uncle Andy got me up REAL early on Saturday morning so we could have a long day up at Auckland. We left the house at 7.20am (yes THAT early) and went nearly 100km (60 miles) before we stopped for breakfast at a place called Mercer. They do a really good bacon and egg toasted sandwich which we were all ready for after only having a cup of tea when we got up.

After that we travelled up to a place called Kelly Tarlton's Sea World which is to the east of Auckland City itself and you could see the Sky Tower from the car park. We had to got through a place called Mission Bay and they have some tourist shops and cafes but not a lot else but the beach and the views were very good.

We went into the Sea World and the first thing we did was go on a bob cat to see the Penguins in as natural habitat as it can be. It smelled really bad but they were right show offs and smiled for the camera. Unfortunately because we had to take pictures through glass they didn't work too

Penguins showing off
good but have put the couple of pictures in that are not too bad.

We then saw the stingrays and this bloke decided he was going to feed them. Oh my god couldn't believe the size of one of them. It was actually covering the bloke up trying to get to the food and then it knocked the bucket out of his hand and the food fell out. They are really wierd and I wouldn't go in with them.

They had this display called 'Freaky Fish' and they weren't wrong. Some really freaky stuff. The yellow thing is a Moray eel and I'm so glad I will never be going in the sea if things like that live there. We also saw sea horses, massive cray fish, eels, piranahs, sharks and even a nemo.

We had our picture taken together so hope it comes out on the diary page.

They had also built a replica of Scott of the Antartics shack and took a picture of the best flag on the row to prove that Welsh flags are well travelled. Mine will be in the window soon. Will take a picture of that and put it

After we had finished there we went off to Auckland City itself so will do another entry for that one.

Back soon
