Well we arrived in Chongqing in the very very early hours of the morning. After some negotiation with taxi drivers we were whisked away to our motel. After 5 minutes of checking in and some confusion we were informed that we were at the wrong hotel. This was to be a recurring theme for our stay. After wandering around for a while we found the right place and checked in. We headed into the city centre and were amazed by the development that seems to be happening. The whole city is cranes and skyscrapers. Chongqing as many of you know........ is a city of about 4 million people. However the way it is goverened via one municipal government makes it an unlikely candidate for worlds biggest city (population including outlying areas tops 31 million people).

The reason we went here is to catch a ferry down the Yangtze River to see the famous Three gorges. The city itself is like a lot of Chinese city's with lots of skyscrapers and not a whole lot to see. Our first day we had just hit the city centre when we met Kenny who introduced himself as a teacher. Of course 5 minutes later we were in his art gallery as he attempted to win us over on some of his paintings. Apparently..... he is exhibiting in London soon so keep and eye out (Ahem) although his pictures did look suspiciously like the pictures we have seen everywhere else in China just ten times the price. After a firm goodbye we headed off. We decided to treat ourselves to a night out in lovely Chongqing and ended up in a couple of different bars. Ronans blonde hair ensured we had lots of new Chinese friends to sit with. Got a taxi back to the wrong motel again.

We spent the next day recuperating and sending some mails. We also got our tickets arranged for the Yangtze ferry. Our biggest "treat "in Chongqing was watching Liverpool in action in our room. Unfortunately they scraped a one all draw with Blackburn.(Typical the one game we get to see is dismal). After checking our we headed to the Ferry terminal. It took the guts of an hour to find our ship and hop on board.

Next Stop Wuhan...................
