Does anyone have good recommendations(or bad!) for places to stay in Agra, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Ranthambore and Delhi? Air-conditioning is required as one of the group really will need a place to cool off. 4 or 5-star type places preferred. I have a couple places in mind but you can never have too many good places to stay in.....
Thanks.
Reply to this I didn't really stay in 4/5 star places anywhere; but I thought it might be worth it to give you one recommendation - the place I stayed in Jaipur was called the Evergreen guest house/hotel (haven't got the address, but it's in Lonely Planet). You can choose to have an aircon room which are also in better condition than the non air-con ones, I had an air-con one which also had a tv and hot water shower as well as a little roof terrace which you could see the Tiger Fort from, and the place is reasonably clean The place is quite nice in that it's set around a grassy courtyard and is a bit of a haven, nice and peaceful. It also has a nice cafe.
Not sure if that's helpful, but thought I'd mention it. PS one thing I remember that was also particularly good there is that it has good (unusually for India!) broadband internet at the guest house, with a very good and easy photo-resizing programme on the desktop. And the chai masalas they do in the cafe were among the best I had in India!
Reply to this Hi,
Thanks for the information. Good to hear about a place that has a decent internet connection. And always good to know about good stuff for the tummy too!

Reply to this Hi Brian,
If you are looking for 4/5 star hotels, and not on a budget travel/backpacking trip, you will get plenty of really good hotels and resorts at all the places you mentioned. Oberoi group hotels, Taj group hotels, etc. are quite famous for their high-end accommodations. You will find them in Delhi, Agra, Jaipur for sure. You will easily find them from websites like expedia.. Holiday-Inn, Hyatt, Trident, Hilton, etc. are also there.
I had a friend visiting Jaipur & Agra early this year, and she stayed at Ummaid Bhavan in Jaipur (approx $60/night) and Clarks Shiraz in Agra (I think it was on a higher end)...
There are also some former palaces in Rajasthan which are now converted into resorts..

Thanks.
