Does the Weather Influence your Travel Decisions?

Does bad weather make you avoid a certain destination? Do you choose certain destinations, because you expect the weather to be good there? Do you avoid or go to certain destinations at certain times of the year?

The way the weather usually influences my decision to go to a certain destination is if it is a bad weather time of year there may be bargain flights to get there. This persuades me to go there.

I sometimes avoid places if it is so hot or so cold that it would be intolerable to be there. For example I am going to Krygyzstan in September. Much of the rest of the year it is so cold and snowy that it is almost impossible to get around the country with roads being blocked. Then some other months are just soooooo hot.

Some of us are not lucky enough to travel whatever time a year. I usually can only travel during the summer (northern hemisphere). Last summer I was told by many not to travel to Vietnam/Cambodia in July as it will be very hot and rain most of the time.....yes it was hot, but and it rained twice in 3 weeks. It just means you need to pack light, stay well hydrated, get AC room, and maybe break up the day a little (especially since I was travelling alone with a 2 year old). I dont think heat and rain should be a reason not to go places. I already hear the moans as I am going to India/Nepal for 5 weeks in june/july. Yes, I know it will be hot. We will survive.

If one does not like snow, there are places and times of the year that probably are not a good idea to travel to.

SO, unless you have the luxury of being able to travel when you want or if you are a snowman, dont let the heat turn you away. Many places tend to be less crowded and cheaper which is an additional bonus. Thats my 2 cents Reply to this

I personally enjoy the 'bad' weather, so I tend to plan on going at those times of year. The one exception is that I really don't enjoy extreme heat, so if I can I will avoid those times of year.
