BBC Reports

--

I have a ticket for tomorrow morning to fly from Kuala Lumpur to Bali - I think I'll headstraight for one of the smaller islands Lombok to start - avoid the aftermath of this tradegy. I'll be posting in my blog about what I find.

Anyone else having to make tough decisions?

I hope everyone connected with travelblog is safe and well, Bali is a beautiful place with friendly people - such a mess - wish I had something profound to say but it is all just so many words against so much tradegy. Reply to this

Well I write from Ubud - central Bali - the local population is preparing for the Gunlagan (excuse my spelling) celebration. They are angry, again crazies from Java have come over killed tourists and locals, injured many, and probably impacted tourism for years to come. I feel very sorry for them.

Ubud is also a popular destination, I couldn't get a flight to Lombok when I arrived so had to stay somewhere - chose here to spend a few days. The town is chilled and full of art. One thing that I have read is that the cafe in Kuta that was attacked was a small place, if terrorists are to attack again there is no reason why it wouldn't be in Lovina, or Ubud or any of the resorts on Bali.

Bali is very beautiful, as cheap or as luxurious as you want. It is such a shame that this place is being targetted. (I know no where deserves it)

I'll post more in a blog soon... and update this thread when I can... Reply to this

well i'm in ubud too (just arrived today, from KL), primarily because i wont allow these terrorists to stop me from participating in the ubud writers festival. besides what country's really safe from terrorism anyway? there are bombings everywhere. Reply to this

Spoke to my Mum yesterday, first thing she asked when I brought up your traveling again was "He's not in Bali is he?". :-\ Do take care dude... although it's probably one of the safer places to be for the next few weeks at least. Reply to this
