Welcome to Vietnam and I am here to help you

I am a real Vietnamese. I was born and grew up in Vietnam. From the youngest years to the moment here, I am very aware of the fact that my country is a beautiful and peaceful country. I feel shocked when I hear some strikes or booms in oversea countries and I wonder that how people can live with them. The more I discover my country, The more I am proud of it. Therefore, I feel happy when I am asked about my country from visitors. I enjoy seeing them come to learn about my country as well as my culture. I like them and thank them too because there is a fact that just a few people know Vietnam. I am so thankful and want to help them to have a satifactory trip to Vietnam.
All visitors are welcome and I am waiting for your questions. Don't hesitate to ask me at any time.

Hello Albert

I'm going to your wonderful land for 7 weeks here this winter starting in late october.

My question is: How cold is it in Sapa around the first days in november? Do we need sleepingsbags or is it okay with thin carpets?

Maybe it is so cold that we need "fat polar" sleepingbags like them you use for trekking in Nepal.

We are a family; 2 adults and 2 kids aged 5 and 8.

Hope a reply is possible.

Thanks a lot

First of all, thank Vu Lam Chi Duc for your kind reply to my friend as well as your programm. It is so good I think.

Dear Peter, I am sorry for my late reply. I do hope that it's no problems for you. I've just come back from Sapa so it takes me long time to contact with you.
I am very happy to know that your family will come to our country late october. Thank you for your attention to our country, I am sure that you and your lovers will have a good trip.
About the general information about Sapa, I think Vu Lam Chi Duc has told you. You can make sure by visiting some websites from Vietnam or some of travel agents here.
One thing about Sapa that attracts visitors most is that no other place in the northwest has such an ideal climate, with spring, summer, autumn and winter in one day. In the morning,it is foggy and cool. It becomes hot at noon, and turns very cold at night. The temperature's normally below 10 degree celcus. Sometimes it reachs 0 degree celcus. So there is snow there. The winter or people here call the snowfall because it is very cold. The temperature ranges from 0 to 10 degree celcus.
I think you should take some sleepingbags for your kids at night, I am worried that they will not adjust well with the changes of the weather. It is ok for you and your wife to have thin carpets.
I bought a book about Sapa when I was there and I am happy to give you for free when you come to Vietnam if you would like. That's my pleasure, never mind it. I think that the book will be very helpful for you because it show you what to do and where to see in Sapa.

If you need further information about your trip, don't hesitate to contact with me at any time.

Your friend in Vietnam

Hi Albert! 😊

I am going to live in your country for a year to work!

I have a slight problem. I am going next Wednesday (28.09.05) and haven't got a visa yet. Can I get mine issued upon arrival? I am from Portugal and we have no Vietnames diplomatic representation here in Portugal. I have been told that for this to happen I need to hav a letter from the Vietnamese Immigration saying that I can have my visa issued upon arrival. Where can I get one of these letters?

Thanks for your time Albert! I am hoping that once I have this sorted I can ask you lots of questions about Saigon, as that is where I will be living and teaching!

Hey Albert
we are planning to come to Vietnam for 3 weeks in July 2009. I know it is monsoon weather then. Is this a problem for travelling? can we go t o Sapa and to Halong Bay at this time?
Is it possible to go to the beach or is the sea very difficult?
thank you

Hi Albert,
I'm a real Vietnamese like you. I am so happy to exchange some information about tourism with you. Could we do that??
Pigletruth, happy to hear you visit our country. In July, it's summer time in the North so the weather is rather hot but in Halong and Sapa is rather pleasant, don't worry about it. Its' the good time to have trips to beaches in vietnam. Transportation is rather convenient, it cost you about $ 8 from Hanoi to Halong Bay by bus. If you go Sapa, you can go by train to Lao Cai station ($25) and spend 3$ from station to Sapa town.
July in South of Vietnam is in rainy season, but it often rains in the afternoon and shorly (about 30 min), the climate is ok for you to travel. From Ho Chi Minh city, you can take a bus to Vung Tau, Phu Quoc, etc....
Have a good trip! Reply to this

Ngoc Vung island in Quang Ninh province is a good place. the island is still wild, not many tourists know this place. My friend visited there and she said it's wonderful place but she can't live there because is too boring, just relax for few days.

Phu Quoc Island, Cat Ba island .... are also good choices. Reply to this
