Hi,
I will be visiting Istanbul in May. I plan on staying there for about a week, maybe more.
What nice and safe places close to Istanbul could I visit? (I mean a place I can visit and return to Istanbul the same day or one day later). I would also like to know if there is areas in Istanbul that I should avoid for safety. Is one week in Istanbul enough, too much or not enough to see the area?
Thanks,
Renoir

Im from Istanbul and i hope that i can answer yur questions.
First of all i'll give advice to you for accomodation places in istanbul.
There re lots of places for Hotels.
You can stay at Taksim/Talimhane (Hotels area) There re lots of Hotels for Tourists.
You may visit Çanakkale very definitely. You can turn back in 3 hours to istanbul.
And "Bursa" 2 hours from istanbul (you can use car ferry for it)
And 1 week is enough i think (but you should care for your tempo 😊 )
Dont forget to visit "Hipodrom Center" (sultanahmet,Topkapi Place and more....)

Staying in Blue Mosque area is better and convenient to all cultural sights. you need to spend some time in Taksim Area. Taste the restaurants in Tunnel area. Very cosmopolitic cafees.
Very nice pedestarian road full of local shops restaurants. There is one very nice and least popular museum I would recommend. Chora Museum. It is full of mosaics and spirit. I would recommend eating the crowded places since good chief has many customers as usual.
<snip>ts. Also baselica cistern museum. very interesting to see. www.yerebatan.com
