travelling wilbury...
too late, i believe..... Stephanie was 30 years old when she finished her tour of all countries of the world....
Reply to this Country hopping seems like a waste of time and energy. If I am not in a country for more than a week, I don't feel like I have actually traveled in that country rather than just skimming over the surface.
Reply to this the hardest are war ravaged regions (just for safety reasons), countries that don't allow outside visitors and small countries that are nearly impossible to get to.
For example:
North Korea
Iran
Countries in French Polynesia (no airports for some of these countries, and rarely have visitors)
Odessa
Congo
Reply to this i also know outside visitors to bhutan is almost strictly disallowed except by written consent of the king's court (at least it was 8 years ago)
Reply to this Hi Gen,
Your list is not really accurate.
Bhutan, the cap on number of visa issued per year has been lifted, but it'still expensive.
North Korea, pretty easy to get there. I have at least 4 friends who visited. The sad point, is that every single money you pay there is going to support the worst dictators on earth. Would you sponsor Hitler? Not me! The country is really safe as a visitor, as it is so oppressed.
Iran. No respect for human rights, but people vote there. And it is pretty easy to visit if you follow the local rules.
French Polynesia ...well, this is not "one" country, as it still France, but for info, most of the inhabited islands do have an airport.
Odessa, I don't see your point, it's a city on the Black Sea, nothing dangerous there...well...all depend on how you behave.
Congo, I was there last week...it's a huge country and the only part that should currently seriously be avoided is the north-east.
Hope this help,
Peter
Reply to this Having been to North Korea I can assure you it is easy to visit unless you have a US or South Korean passport.
Some of the Central Asian countries (i.e. Iran) are problematic to get visas, but with patience it can be done. The other tough one is Libya but again patience will be rewarded. It's more about getting through the bureaucracy rather than any real danger.
If I had to put a few suggestions for dangerous countries (apart from the obvious ones of Afghanistan and central-southern Iraq) I've heard that Central African Republic and Chad are risky at present. The burgeoning drug trade in Guinea-Bissau is making that one country to avoid as well.
I don't intend to visit every country in the world as I'm concentrating on spending my time and money on the more interesting ones.
Reply to this I'm not sure 😊
But I think Travel Junkie Julia would come pretty close... She's seen a lot of places and is only in her 20s!!!
She writes really well too and has helped me out with a few travel tips.
Check out her travel blog:

Reply to this Hi I own a group of companies - tour operations in many parts of the World - and I have sent a client to every country in the World - 195 countries - it took 30 years - he is an Australian, now retired Orthopaedic Surgeon.
And yes it is possible to do it !!! Hardest were the 10 most dangerous in Africa but as Africa is my specialty (I guide safaris there) I arranged it for him 2 years ago - and that finished them all off. Now he is visiting all the Islands (there are about 1000 !!!!!!)... Richard
Reply to this I am turning 22 next week and I am at 75 right now.... you only have one life, you better enjoy it doing what you like. However, there is countries I stayed in for only 3 days (slovakia is an example)...
Reply to this Oh to have travelled as much as some of you! I really am such a newbie :-s
Reply to this Welcome to the Forum, Halee! Everyone has to start somewhere - my first overseas trip was New Zealand, then it was a year in Europe, followed by another decade without overseas travel. Thankfully now I head overseas on an semi-regular basis, however it takes a bit of planning and saving to get there. But if you are disciplined, you will fulfill your dreams.
Reply to this Thanks Shane 😊 Just looked at your map, wow, you've been far and wide! Hope my map looks like yours in a few years time! Still working my way around this site, still can't even figure out how to get my map UP! :-D
Reply to this Well if you are talking about the map that marks the countries you have BLOG from in red. You need to upload a blog selecting this country.
If you really want to travel, u will. You learn how to save money and now that I learned it...I don't see myself spend money on things I don't need like I used to in the past.
Reply to this Agree with you Nicolas, I focus the vast majority of my monies into travelling so my spending habits have changed dramatically. Eating out on weekly basis is now reduced to eating out once every month, shopping for clothes is now focused on lighter weight travel type clothes, and weekend trips within Australia (a night or two away somewhere) now only occur once every few years instead of annually.
Regarding the map, this may also refer to the World Map Maker, where you can show countries you have not visited but hope to travel, or places you have visited but not blogged about. To find this World Map Maker, from your
Control Panel, go to the
Profile tab near the top of the page and then click on the
Extras tab. Once here you will see
World Map Maker and just click on it and it will give you instructions on how to get your own map onto your profile.
Reply to this Love this informative site... I am wondering if anyone can give me a place where i can get quotes and ideas on ways eing able to complete this Epic journey, the idea is to visit as many (hopefully all) countries as possible in a very short time - got a little (being a little understating) project that needs to be done and this is the way it is going to be done.... if it can be done this site will certainly come in handy.
Reply to this I've actually been in 3 countries in a matter of about 30 minutes. To get to Paraguay from the Argentina side of Iguazu Falls, you have to take a bus that goes through Brazil. (The area is known as "Las Tres Fronteras" because the three countries come together at a point there)
However, I do agree with the opinions in this thread. Even though I have technically been in the country of Brazil for about 20 minutes, it would be ridiculous for me to tell people that I've been there.
Reply to this I can count the number of countries I've been to on my two hands... think I have some catching up to do!!
