Heading over to KL at the beginning of march, are there any places to stay/avoid?
Hi everyone,
a few q's:
I'm heading over to KL at the beginning of march, are there any places to stay/avoid?
Should I book online before hand or just turn up?
I'll be arriving in the afternoon of the 4th March, and leaving at about 1am on the 7th; so I'll only need 2 nights.
I'm tossing up on taking my laptop in my bag with me - it's old and terrible but I'll probably need it when I get to my eventual destination - are there any lockers that are secure where I can dump stuff for three days? (I don't mind going back every 24 hours and putting in some extra coins!)
Hmmmmm aside from the backpacky things:
Where can I buy a cheap learner's guitar in KL? (If I don't start learning guitar in my year off, I'll never learn)
Are there any good day tour operators? I was interested in maybe the Batu Caves or FRIM.
I think that's it!!!!!! I'm sorry if my questions seem rather abrupt, I don't mean for them to!
Oh. One more! Does anybody know if checked-in luggage going through the phillipines is safe? (Cebu Pacific airways, 4 hour layover in Manila airport on the way to Taiwan from KL)
Reply to this Hi there,
Just back from KL few week ago...truly unique! Not really sure you need a day tour operator, city is quite ok to navigate as long as you got a good map and an idea of what you want to see! Lots of locals speak basic english, so even if you lost your way, subway/ bus/ taxi are never too far to bring you in the right direction 😊 Have a look at my blog on KL, might help and if you got question about some of the sites, let me know :-)
Btw, checked in luggage going through phillipines are fine, airport is really safe so no worries on that side!
Have a great trip!
Reply to this hey,
i was in kl with my family last year. was very easy to get around and the people know enough english to help. we stayed in buki bintang (cant remember proper spelling) and stayed at a hotel called bintang warrison which suited us very well and was cheap. its on the main street and easy walk to heaps of shopping centres, mono rail and buses! good luck with your planning
Reply to this I agree you won't need a tour guide. If you will, then your hotel will be able to help you out, they're all very tourism oriented. Stayed at several hotels, The Mint, Corona Inn, CitiTel and the Boulevard. I liked the Boulevard the best but it isn't exactly a budget hotel. The Mint wasn't a great hotel at all, but the Corona Inn downtown was definitely a charming little place (quite modest though), the biggest bang for the buck. Some places to see are Chinatown, Central market, Petronas Towers, MidValley megamall (if you like shopping) (BB Plaza for lower-end shopping), Cameron Highlands -- a breathtakingly beautiful place. The food is delicious everywhere. Good luck.
Reply to this The Green Room is a good place to stay.
Don't book anything beforehand
