Hi

I spend a lot of time thinking of catchy titles, good first paragraphs and put my best image first, but my hits don't increase :-( any advice on how to get recommended to be blogger of the week, etc? Is it all about spending time on the forums?

Thanks Reply to this

Hello Claire and welcome to travel blog,

All of your suggestions of catchy titles, good first paragraphs and putting your best image first always help in getting additional views.
As for being recommended for blogger of the week it requires being nominated by a fellow travel blogger.
The Blogger of the Week is an award given to a blogger who has less than 5 followers. The award is an effort to help unknown bloggers become better known.

Participating in the forums and questions does allow you to get scene by more bloggers.
Once a blogger has 5 followers they will end up on the front page of travel blog providing their blog has 500 words and 5 photos.
It looks like you have 3 followers currently so you are getting close. Great work!

Continue to publish quality blogs and I'm sure you'll end up on the front page. I love reading about the people you have met along the way. Thanks for blogging. Reply to this

Hi guys,

I have a quick question (and thanks in advance for any responses): when you write a blog and you include the location and publish it publicly, how come the blog doesn't appear on the 'most recent blog' section of that specific location? Is it all to do with the amount of views that you get, as in do you have to get so many views before your blog title even shows up on that page?

I hope you understand what I mean, and thanks for any support. Reply to this

Front page is ad hoc? What does that even mean? As much as so many here have thoughtful, inquisitive, and informational blogs with beautiful photos, how about a bit of variety? Reply to this

In response to: Msg #200662 hi Travis, to get on the front page, you need at least 5 images in the blog, a minimum word count that I've forgotten (but it's listed somewhere!) plus 5 members to follow you. The latter is the hardest. I've just followed you so you need one more. Maybe try following recent bloggers who also need the big 5, I know it took me ages to achieve this. However it never made a huge difference to my hits. Getting people to read my blogs is hard, despite my efforts to make them interesting, but sharing on social media with tons of relevant hash tags and good photos is effective.... Eventually! A beautiful website is a good start. Something that's aesthetic, which gives you credibility, coupled with an easy user interface. Go easy on the pop ups, too; I've heard of people abandoning sites--quality sites, with content they enjoyed--over the tedious of pop ups. Keep your visitors happy, and they'll not only keep coming back, they'll spread the word, doing a lot of your marketing for you. I got my site done at <snip>

Good luck!
