12 Days - Phnom Penh, SiemRiep and Saigon?

Looking for a 12 day plan before heading to Koh Samui for a detox.

Hey guys! I'm new to travelblog, so I apologize if this topic has been rehearsed many times before.

Well I'm currently teaching in South Korea and am planning to do a month in S.E Asia when my contract is up in March. I've been to Bangkok a couple of times already, but I plan to head there as my traveling hub.

I have a rough idea of what I'd like to do, and it would be nice if any of you could give me any suggestions on how to fill 12 days. I was thinking that I could take a flight from Bangkok to Phnom Penh, stay there for a couple days, then take a bus to Siem Riep, then head to Ho Chi Minh city.

Is this enough time to see all 3 places? I would like to use overland travel between these 3 destinations.

Thanks guys. Reply to this

I think your backtracking by flying in to Phnom Penh. You'll have to go North and than South again....I went to Siem Riep via Bangkok. Took a government bus to the Popiet border, than a $15US shared-Taxi to SR. If you take the early morning bus from BKK, it only takes about 4 hours from the border to SR. You'll get there in enough time to see Angkor under the after 4pm "free admission".

There are then lots of options to get to Phnom Penh. Keep in mind that Cambodia has some of highest if not the highest airport tax. The roads are a bit dangerous (dirt clouds and crazy drivers), but you'd experience that too if you were to travel from PP to SR and back like your original plan.

There is a direct bus between Sai Gon and both PP and SR. Bus from SG to PP takes 5-6 hours by Mekong Express or Sinh cafe etc. Bus from SG to SR takes 12 hours by Sapaco. You can go from PP to SR by bus or by boat, but bus is cheaper. It would take 5 hours for the trip.

There are 6 int'l border crossings between VN and Cambodia that were open. However, most of travellers used Moc Bai - Bavet crossing to travel between SG and PP.

PP 2 days, SR 3 days, the remaining time for Sai Gon and southern VN. You also can take a boat tour from PP to Sai Gon (3-day tour) via Chau Doc. Reply to this
