16 years ago, November 19th 2007 No: 1 Msg: #22780
Hi I will be flying with Air Asia from Macau to Thailand, I need to get from Hong Kong to Macau and have read about the ferry, does anyone know how long this takes and how much it is? Also is the ferry port far from the airport?
Also if anybody knows if any airlines that fly cheap from HK to Thailand then that will be even better :o) Reply to this

I believe there are quite a number of companies offering the service with various types of high speed craft. I did the trip myself in 2004 but since I am out and about right now I cannot check my files. I would wager the trip takes something like 1-2 hours and that it isn't that expensive. 150-200 HKD perhaps?

I assume you mean the distance between the airport and ferry terminal in Macau? The ferry terminal is closer to the city than the airport, and they are interlinked by the airport bus. In fact the airport bus (fare HKD 3.50 if i recall correctly) doesn't take you downtown but to the ferry terminal, from where scheduled citybuses as well as a whole slew of free shuttle buses operate to various destinations around town. The journey takes 10-15 minutes or so.

For cheap flights between Hong Kong and Bangkok, I don't have many good suggestions either. I am surprised this is not a popular route for low cost airlines. I usually fly Thai on this route, a return ticket normally comes down to around 2500-3000 HKD. I know Bangkok Airways does Shenzhen, and Orient Thai supposedly has daily flights between BKK and HKG as well. Oh, and don't forget the classy helicopter service linking the HK and Macau ferry terminals, just 2000 HKD for twenty minutes of fun! Price has gone up I see, I paid 1400 for my ticket a few years ago. 😞 Reply to this
