Planning to take a sabbatical and travel to Malaysia later this year - any tips/advice/fellow travellers??

I might even extend it to a Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore & Malaysia adventure - well, I might as well get it fully out of my system before I rejoin the rat race!
Solo female traveller, so understandably nervous at the same time - help! I'm just beginning to make plans now... Reply to this

One - don't panic! 😊 It will be amazing.

Two - "might as well get it fully out of my system before I rejoin the rat race!" - won't happen you'll be always wanting to travel again.

I'm a solo (again) male traveller so I don't have quite the same perspective - but I met many many solo-female travellers who said it was the best thing they'd ever done. Yes occassionally they had problems with attitudes from guys (local and other travellers) but following common sense meant that they had no problems greater than a guy would have.

Common sense things like - don't wander around unknown cities alone after dark until you get to know how safe it is. Don't get really drunk in new bars. But these things apply to guys also...

Hope this has helped - and welcome to travelblog.

I have travelled quite extensively through Asia
There's nothing to worry about in Malaysia. Very conservative. English is widely spoken.
