Hi all! I plan to make a long trip to the u.s.a. I plan to visit Miami, New York, L.A., San Francisco, Las Vegas and the Grand Cannyon. How many days do you think I need for each city, museum visits excluded, you know, just to say that I got a good taste of each city.

Thank you in advance

I'd say Miami in 2-3 days, NYC in 3-5 days, San Fran 2-3 days, Las Vegas 3-4 days, and Grand Canyon 1-2 days... all at a minimim. You could spend a week in these places and perhaps with the exception of the Grand Canyon still feel like there's so much more to see/do/feel/etc. It all really depends on how rushed you want to feel and what more than museums you want to visit to give you that "taste of the city." Sometimes this is obtained by just relaxing at a cafe that locals go to or walking the city streets. If I were you, I'd check frommers.com, fodors.com, or the travel sections of major newspapers (the NY Times has a lot of features that I find very useful, espcially their "36 hours in _____" bits) to give you good, succinct descriptions of the top spots in each of these places and how to best utilize your time. 😊 Enjoy your trip! Hi nmaridaki! I know a very good website that can help you decide which places in the US are nice to visit. Check this out: MapJack . This website has a bunch of features that gives you a clearer view of beautiful spots in the US. Unlike google maps, the quality of the pictures provided on MapJack are excellent, thus, allowing you greater experience of online navigation of the places. I am sure this website will help you decide which places to go in your future trip to the US. Goodluck and have a nice trip! Reply to this

It depends on what you like to do/see/experience, how much time you have and how you plan to travel.
Big cities: San Francisco (my home town) has a lot to offer and would require at least a week if you plan to visit the surrounding areas, i.e. Yosemite ( a must), the wine country, Muirwoods (giant Redwoods), Monterey, etc. Skip Fisherman's Wharf unless you like strictly tourist areas.
New York (Manhattan) - an unforgettable experience - needs several days. Sightsee all day and go to the shows at night.
Los Angeles - You could skip unless you want to visit Hollywood or Disneyland.
Las Vegas - A world class tourist attraction - but very glitzy and commercial.
Grand Canyon: You can view it in a day or spend several days there as you hike down to the bottom, stay at Phantom Ranch and return the next day.
Hope this helps.

you definitely have to get to Seattle, WA sometime! Experience the Pike Place Market, Waterfront, Space Needle, etc. It's absolutely beautiful. Reply to this
