Reply to this You will be better off taking a flight from Delhi to Kathmandu. Due to heavy competition among airlines you will find good prices. Going from India
to Nepal via train can a bit inconvenient.

Reply to this If you have more time then you go across the land border - depends where you want to arrive - I have crossed from Darjeeling (Siliguri) by bus and entered Eastern Nepal - last time I checked you could a simple 2 month visa at the border. If you are visiting Chitwan (South Central Nepal) it is possible to go (by bus) from there to into India and vice versa by bus. Best flights as mentioned by jorix and Rohnert77 are Delhi to KTM. there are no train crossings for foreigners I believe and only one train line to Janakpur.
