Hi,

My wife and I want to plan a trip to Mexico or Belize next spring (2008). But because we’re both hovering around age 60, we’re only interested in a very quiet, slow-paced location … and we don’t need luxury ... and a single, private dwelling would be nice. In other words, no mariachi/reggae/rock music till all hours of the morning in the courtyard of the hotel next door or downstairs in our own hotel. Just want a spot where you hear nature, not an amplifier. Also, we both are recreational scuba divers, so we’d like to be near some Caribbean waters. Are we asking too much? Please respond if you have any ideas.

I have just been in Placencia, Belize, and I loved it. I'm not a diver, but I went snorkelling and the sea-life was stunning. Placencia is very quiet and laid back. There are resorts, but we stayed in the village, and it was very quiet. The local bars shut early. I can highly recommend it. Reply to this
