Best way to get from England to Ireland?
16 years ago, June 26th 2007 No: 1 Msg: #15699
Hello! I'll be traveling to the UK in September and would like to take a 2 day trip to Ireland from England. I'm flying into Manchester and noticed a number of ferries relatively close. I’m a new traveler and I’ll be backpacking, so any suggestions would be great! Thanks! :-) Reply to this

Hi

Best and cheapest are probably very different things. The cheapest way would be to fly...check out www.ryanair.com, www.aerarann.ie and www.flybmi.co.uk. There are plenty of others but these are probably the cheapest. Ferries run frequently from Holyhead in North Wales or Liverpool in England to Dun Laoighre or Dublin Port (both in Dublin). Check out Irish Ferries, P&O Ferries and Stena Lines websites. If you go for this option don't forget to investigate the cost of train fares from Manchester to Liverpool (they are not cheap in the UK).

Good luck
