am visiting malaysia around 20th of this month for 4 days and from 24th i am off to thailand for 10 days ... i am a solo traveler, been to thailand before .

Since this time around i am planning to travel into thailand by road from malaysia... just wondering whether its a good idea and also will appreciate if someone can suggest the best possible option to do the same as i basically intend to spend most of my time in south thailand. Also where will i have to get my immigration once i enter thailand(i mean 1st city).

I wish to really be at the Koh Phangan Full moon party on 29 th June, as i couldnt enjoy the same when i was here last time in dec 2005 as the same was cancelled because of some tragic accidents at the island..and i hope this time around its wonderful.

you can visit my page at www.face-pic.com/highspirits

lastly since i am traveling alone would like to catch up with some lovely people.

Hello, I did a trip last April 2004 from Singapore-Malaysia-Thailand by land (train). Actually, my final destination is Thailand (Bkk) but since I had only a free ticket going to Singapore, I took this opportunity to travel by land. There is a train from Singapore to Malaysia, then from Malaysia to take another train from Kuala Lumpur to Hat Yai (boundary between Malaysia and Thailand). From Hat Yai I have to wait for few hours for the another train going to Bkk. In other words, this is the itinerary: Singapore to Malaysia (different train operator), Malaysia to Hatyai (different operator) and Hatyai to bkk (different operator) which needs you to buy the tickets every station.

You can also take bus directly from Singapore to Bkk, not sure if you can have it from Malaysia, it might be a bus station for buses coming from Singapore. I recently purchased a travel book and it features the train trip from Singapore to Bkk, called ''The Eastern and Oriental Express''. You can check this out thru google search if you can get a round trip tickets from Malaysia to Bkk.

It will be easy to inquire if you are already in Malaysia and you can manage to visit the central train station for details. Booking in advance is ok but it always a chance that you can get a seat without prior booking.
