Any suggestions about what to do in Paris? What to see? Especially mid-priced range restaurants that serves GOOD food? Shops to visit?

I will be visiting Paris for two weeks in June. I would like to know (aside from the tourist guide book stuff) what there is to do in Paris. Suggestions on where to eat (snacks, Parisian Food, crepes, Italian, or other European cuisines) would be good. Please suggest some places you think are worthwhile! I will mainly be shopping.. so any botiques/stores I should visit?

You can see many shops along Champs-Élysées. I suggest going to Versailles, just a short train trip from Paris. Reply to this

ooohhh! Shpooing in Paris, my favourite subject! Lovely little independent art galleries around the Quai Conti, St Germain des Pres and the Place des Voges and excellent boutiques and shoe shops in the Marias.

Avenue Montaigne has all of the big name French shops such as Paul and Joe, Chanel, Zadig and Voltaire.
Regarding sights, the Orsay is a stunning building and is navigable in a short time, as is the Palais de Tokyo if contemporary is your thing! Tokyo Eat inside is great for fusion food with a European feel. The Louvre is simply too big!
Go up Montparnasse tower for the best view in Paris of Paris ( costs about 9 Euros and is the second highest point in Paris after the Eiffel Tower- doesn't look much from the outside but the view are superb) and you can stand on the roof for magnificent photos or have cocktails on the top floor. The Musee Marmottan is great too...there are about 25 Monets in one room.
Eating and drinking...Alcazar is good on rue Mazarine in St Germain des Pres (it has a website so you could try to google it) , full of trendy city types with a good menu. Alternatively, there are a few nice typically french bistros around the Trocodero roundabout where you have an excellent view of the Eiffel and the prices are good. Avoid eating on the Champs Elysee as you will get ripped off. Angelinas on rue Rivoli is fabulous for french cakes and hot chocolate and any Paul bakery is a must for breakfast. They are dotted around the city. In general, the french take pride in their food and most eateries are very good quality. I would simply wander and see where looks bustling on the day.
Weather is great here at the mo-have a lovely time! Reply to this

Well, I travelled here 6 years ago and never left, excepting short term explorations to other continents! My favourite city in Europe and adopted home! I remember reading that living here 'unfits' you for living anywhere else so it appears that I am most graciously and happily doomed to be here for life! Reply to this

You gotta see the catacombs! They are so awesome. They didn't have room in the cemetaries so they stacked the bones in theh old limestone tunnels that the romans used to quarry stone for buildings. There is a section open to the public that you can visit. I would also reccomend seeing the church of st. Sulpice. This website exploreglobe.net has google earth kmz files that link to the sights in paris with pics and info and stuff so you can get an idea of where everything is. Reply to this
