Bring My Camera?

Do I bring my Canon 20D to Honduras?
16 years ago, May 25th 2007 No: 1 Msg: #14319
We are traveling to Honduras for 3.5 weeks starting Saturday. I have a brand new Canon 20D camera and I was pumped about using it in such a beautiful country. Sadly though, I have heard that Honduras is not the safest of places and I am second guessing my decision about bringing the camera. I\'m only bringing one backpack and (if I bring the camera) the camera bag. I have a PacSafe to go over my bag as well as travelers insurance to cover $2,000 of lost or stolen items, but I\'d love to hear your recommendations. Do you guys bring your nice cameras to these less than friendly but beautiful locations? Reply to this

I just came back from a mission trip to Honduras. I brought my Sony DSC-H2. I am glad I brought it. We didn't see any trouble even though there were alot of state militia with rifles and shotguns. We were never once afraid. Have a great time. It's a gorgeous country.

I had a story in Hongkong. My Fiance and I went for a 5 day trip in HK where we took loads of interesting photos about local life and street venders. to us, these pics are rather precious to record our around world adventures. unfortunately, I lost my camera only several hours before taking off. we took out all the stuffs from the suitcase but still could not see any trace of that damn camera. pissed!! But magically, a security frisked that naughty camera out wrapped in fiance's dirty short! i suggest you going to HK, cause, whatever you've done to your camera, security will fix it Reply to this

That's a tough one! I taught in Honduras for awhile and its really a toss up as far as safety issues go. Bring your camera but use common sense. If you have travelers insurance, the worst thing you could lose would be the pictures that you had taken, which you would have never had if you hadn't brought the camera in the first place. In the event of a mugging, however, give up whatever they want. Its not worth your life. Have a great trip and enjoy your time in Honduras! Reply to this

Def take your camera!! its so beatiful in hondruas!! Climb Celaque (highest mountain in honduras) if you have the time. We did it in a day (starting early!) and worth the slog. Reply to this

Bring your camera, definitely, just don't walk around dangerous areas with it. But there's no better way to remember the gorgeous countryside! Reply to this
