All of us had to deal with being grounded this year.... what did you do and what did you see?
I'm certain many of you wandered your local areas this year. Post your blogs here or provide us a quick summary of what it was like traveling in your home country.
In New England, a local vacation means either the mountains or the beach. I took the mountains due to my love of hiking. Two weeks in the White Mountains and a third in the Adirondacks. Lots of hikes to summits with long views, lots of finding waterfalls, several chilly swims, a few brewery visits, and multiple nights of eating ice cream until I nearly burst. Given the circumstances, a remarkably enjoyable summer.
I'd love to as well, if I can ever find the time. A co-worker pointed me to this hidden dairy farm in the White Mountains that has some of the best ice cream I've ever had. I went there after a hike on a hot day once, and ate more than a pint.
I am a consultant and worked in a few locations a few hundred kilometers away from my home town (Munich) in Germany and Switzerland in the last years and made a lot of visits in these regions.
I also want to show my home country to the mostly english speaking community. There are many places which are mostly unknown to the public. But I keep my blog in German also for my father who likes to read it. By this I also don't need to do a spell and grammar check for each post.
I also look forward to my international travel plans after Covid. I want to go to Japan a 2nd time, Lissabon a 2nd time and soon to Iran and Kiev a 1st time each and they will be my 56th and 57th country I have visited.
Vaccination procedures in Germany are hopefully completed at the end of this summer.
