After working for a while, my blogs started appearing on the first page in the last few years.. Last night, I posted a blog. That never made it. I recall there may be other restrictions that number of minimum words etc. which I tried to follow. Can someone explain me the criteria please?
Thanks,
Tab
Reply to this In response to: Msg #208160 I have posted total 6 pics now. Didn't delete and republished yet. If it goes to the first page on its own, I don't have to otherwise, people will receive notification twice, which wouldn't be desirable. Hope the admin can post it in the front. In this crisis time, I thought the blog will boost some spirit as MJ and Dancing Dave praised in their comments. Thanks Bob.

Tab,
I believe your blog made the front page. All blogs are supposed to have 500 words, 5 phots and 5 followers. Not sure how a blog with 3 photos made the front page. Oh well. Glad you solved the issue.
Reply to this In response to: Msg #208220 Yes it did now MJ. I republished it with 5 pictures. You are right, not sure how the Incaland Peru made it with 3 photos. Anyway, it was good to be reminded the 5-photo rule. Bob helped me in that. Thanks to all of you.
Reply to this Of course - to those reading this link and wondering why their submissions aren't making the front page - there are further criteria: to my knowledge you must also have received either a "blogger of the week/month" or "Hall of Fame" award. Given that the former award has stuttered, maybe we should revisit how we receive this privilege. Fresh blood on the front page would be energising (even if my own efforts aren't guaranteed to make it). Just a thought...
Reply to this In response to: Msg #208532 It was the 5 Follower criteria that keeps most people off the Front Page. We discontinued Blogger of the Week/Month because of poor participation...only 3-4 Moderators participated. It looks like this year we won't have any Hall of Fame in 2020 either. I agree we need fresh blood on the Front Page. Perhaps we can gradually reduce the number of Followers from 5 to 4 to 3. Do you have any other ideas?
Reply to this In response to: Msg #208538 I think we can specify if someone publishes 'x' amount of blogs with travelblog, the blogger gets the privilege to appear on the first page. The number 'x' could be decided based on the discussions among the senior management like you, Dave, and others.
Reply to this I do not think we should lower the criteria below 5. It would be great if a group of us began reading newer bloggers and sent each other messages so we can begin to help new people get on the front page. A blogger only needs five people following. They do not need to be moderators.
No, it is not necessary to have one the blogger of the week or month or Hall of Fame to get to the front page. However, that recommendation did help people get visibility which helped them get the 5 recommendations.
There are 4 of us on this page having the discussion. We can rally one more person to help us hunt. We can make this happen.
Reply to this In response to: Msg #208542 I'm a bit late coming to this discussion though I have had similar thoughts. Maybe lowering the threshold to 3 followers might help but I would be reluctant to do this without evidence. The issue is getting the required number of followers and I don't know how we can best do this. Maybe we should be encouraging "Following" as a part of TB membership just as we did with asking people to rate photos.
Reply to this The wonder of TB is the friendships we've made here.
IF you find someone to follow send me an email and I'll check them out.
