Advise - UK East Coast Mainline

I’m off to London over the bank holiday weekend. Travelling there on 22nd, and back on 24th.

I live in Grimsby, so normally drive to Newark Northgate, leave the car there then jump on an LNER train to Kings Cross.

Apparently, major works on the ECML over that weekend, so, anyone have any tips for the easiest and cheapest alternatives?

Should I travel closer to London then get a more local service? If so, any suggestions?

Or should I drive somewhere like Sheffield / Nottingham / Derby and go from there?
