Cost effective accommodation in Washington DC

Can anyone recommend clean, safe hostels etc in Washington DC?

We need to stop off in Washington DC for a couple of nights. Does any one know of reasonable, clean but relatively cheap accommodation in the city? Reply to this

I use Trip Advisor a lot to find decent hotels in areas I haven't been to before:

You should also look at Arlington, VA and the other suburbs of VA for hotels for DC. Usually a bit cheaper than right in DC and most are right on metro so transportion is quick, easy and cheap. Reply to this
