I just wanted to post this info up in case you all don't know about it. There's a website called www.couchsurfing.com that's a completely free traveler's resource. I'm not paid by them to post this or anything, just a longtime member and I think everyone should be a part of it. You can set up a profile and then, if you're traveling, you can search for people in the area you're traveling to and arrange to stay at their house for free. Or if you're not traveling, you can host people at your house. We hosted 10 groups of people over about 2 years in San Francisco, and are traveling through the US right now using the site to stay with other people. It's really a great community and the experiences you have staying with locals is far more rewarding than staying at a hotel- and it's free too!
