Sorry, I had a typo on the earlier Forum topic that I posted

I am heading to Indonesia in November. My desired itinerary would be Borneo in Kalimantan, Sumatra jungles, Borobudur temple and Irian Jaya in Papua New Guinea. Any information on your experience traveling to those places, i.e.- where to stay, Dayak tribes, hiking trails, wild life, if I need to learn Indonesian language for traveling interiors, 'dos and don'ts' would be much appreciated. My time is limited due to other constraints and I wish to spend around a couple of weeks in total. Reply to this

Hi Gangopa,
Wish you a happy journey to Indonesia. You have sufficient time to book a travel guide for your trip. They will make your trip more comfortable. Recently I have returned from my Thailand trip, which I booked through Complete India & Asia. It was providing me one travel guide & he was very friendly. Reply to this

In response to: Msg #197056 Thanks for your reply.
Hello Spike,
I have been making trips to SE Asia in Nov-Dec for many years now and I start my booking around this time. As you said, the time is right and this gives me ample time to research and book. I have good friends in Chiang Mai (Orient Xplorer), but they specialize mostly in Northern Thailand. I'll check the web site of the company that you have provided. However, my experience in all these trips suggest that not many travel companies do get interested to provide services when I travel off-the-beaten path, usually away from the tourist areas. Because that's not their bread and butter. Besides, it would be difficult to cover such extensive route from Borneo,Sumatra to Papua-New Guinea, Irian Jaya with one guide only. What I understand, there is a huge cultural diversity, specially among the tribal people. That's why I am getting a bit concerned. But I will check your web site and approach them. Any name in particular I should address? Reply to this
